‘You’ve got to give the woman credit’: Democrat on House floor urges GOP to ‘move forward’ on rape bill

A House Democrat on Thursday said Republicans should “move forward” on legislation to punish rapists and their supporters.

Speaking at a House Judiciary Committee hearing, Rep. Jody Hice (R-Ga.) said Republicans are “getting to a point where the rhetoric is getting out there.”

Hice, who has been accused of sexual harassment by several women, has proposed a measure that would prohibit employers from firing or demoting employees who commit sexual assault or sexual harassment, or who attempt to.

Republican leaders have said the bill is necessary to protect women from the “savage and insidious attacks” of rapists.
