4 people killed when truck hits campers in Illinois

4 people were killed in an overnight crash on the shores of Lake Michigan, according to the Lake Michigan Police Department.

Police said the incident happened just before 7:30 a.m. in the 100 block of N. Lake Shore Drive in the Portage Park neighborhood.

The vehicle hit a pickup truck that was sleeping on a street, then slammed into the pickup.

Police said the driver, 32-year-old Kevin Scott Lott of Lake Worth, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.

Lott was driving a 2013 Toyota Camry with Illinois license plates.

Police say he was driving northbound on Lake Shore when the pickup went through a stop sign and went airborne.

A few yards from the crash scene, the pickup hit a campers sleeping in the back of a parked car.

The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
